Her second album, When The Roses Bloom Again (Diesel Only Records), was released to the same critical accolades that greeted her debut album, Not The Tremblin' Kind, in 2000. She was on the road opening for Elvis Costello this Fall! John Linnell and John Flansburgh made their first New York City radio appearance on the Sunday morning version of Idiot's Delight back in 1986 when their first album was released (yes friends, on vinyl, in a time before CDs!). We have continued to be a "mutual admiration society" ever since. This past year has been an exciting one for the Johns. Their "children's album" - No! - has been an enormous chart-topping success; they won a Grammy for "Boss Of Me" - the theme song for the television show Malcolm In The Middle, and Rhino Records has just released a box set entitled Dial-A-Song: 20 Years Of They Might Be Giants. They will be performing at Irving Plaza December 27 and 28. http://www.tmbg.com/froMain.html NOTES: Vin Scelsa’s Idiot’s Delight is heard every Saturday night on broadcast radio in New York on member supported public radio 90.7 WFUV ... http://www.wfuv.org ... WFUV streams its broadcast signal live on the internet ... and NOW the many weekend specialty shows – including ID – are also audio archived so that they can be listened to "on demand." The WFUV Audio Archives can be found at: http://www.wfuv.org/wfuv/archive/index.html SUPPORT WFUV! Become a member! Go to the web site and join us ... we’re the only place on New York broadcast radio for quality adult eclectic music played for quality eclectic adults! Commercial radio is no longer interested in intelligently presenting quality music. Public radio is our only hope ... it must be supported ... or it will not survive. THERE IS AN IDIOT’S DELIGHT T-SHIRT!! I designed it myself. It's simple, low key and to the point. It's short-sleeved, in heather gray, with very dark blue (almost black) lettering. The "3 essential commandments" are on the front and the show name is on the back, all quite unobtrusive, with no station, corporate or commercial logos anywhere. The shirt is only available through World Hunger Year (it was a Hungerthon '99 premium), for a $50 donation to that fine organization. For further information, call Sue Leventhal at W.H.Y. – (212) 629-8850 or visit http://www.worldhungeryear.org My friend Engineer Paul has a personal web page http://www.engineerpaul.com, which also contains "The Songs I Played" every week, as well as some of the digital photos he took of guests during our K-ROCK and WNEW days together. Listener FiL Wisneski runs an indispensable archive of the show lists at http://cherk.com/vin/ for which I am most grateful. I am also indebted to Listener Scott Perschke, who maintains the Idiot's Delight Digest, an email discussion forum with a wide-ranging scope.
